The 3 Day Tuna
Diet
Is This A Diet Plan For You?
Are you considering the 3 day
tuna diet because you are looking for the fastest way possible
to lose 5-15 pounds or possibly more?
I have a vision you are
preparing yourself for that fancy dance or holiday party which
is just around the corner and you just need to slip into that
glittery size 6 back pristine dress that you just bought from
the upscale department store.
Before you proceed -- hold on!
I need to share some information with you before you jump on
the latest diet craze.
Yes, it's true - the 3 day
tuna diet is the latest rage in fad dieting. I won't argue that
point. But, many people falsely assume because a three day diet
is so short it can't possibly be any health risk. Sadly, this
is a wrong assumption. Low calorie diets play havoc on your
metabolism. This means that a short term low cal diet typically
results in weight gain after you stop and it is even more than
likely you will end up weighing more than you did before the
diet.
The main reason this diet is
not a recommended plan is the low calorie aspect of it really
makes it a starvation diet. If you add up the calories for this
diet plan, you end up in the 900+ calories area per day. When
the calories are this low, you can be pretty certain you body
goes into starvation mode the first day you start. By the way,
anything under 1200 calories means it is a very low calorie
diet.
You can be assured your body
has entered a starvation mode soon after you start the 3 day
tuna diet. You will start to feel sluggish, perhaps tired and
not want to do your normal activities. It's possible you will
feel cold even with a bunch of blankets. There have been
reports people dream about food while sleeping and even see
food dancing before in front of you when awake. If you have
these types of experiences, it is probably related to your body
being in starvation mode.
Not only is a 3 day tuna diet
considered a low calorie diet but it is close to being
considered a very low calorie diet (VLCD). The other issue with
this diet is it give the appearance that it is a 3 day diet but
in truth it is you are on and off it for a full
month.
Not A Balanced
Diet
Unfortunately, most of the
foods on the three day tuna diet do not consist of a balanced
healthy diet and likely will not lead to permanent weight
loss.
What Does The Diet
Consist Of?
The diet consists of small
amounts of chicken and fish. Also allowed are peanut butter and
a few vegetables and then an apple for dinner. At the end of
the day you top it off with ice cream! You can see this is not
most people would consider a healthy balanced diet
plan.
A big part of the diet
contains refined carbohydrates. These types of nutrients that
make up the 3 day tuna diet have little nutritional value, if
any. Hunger for food increases when your body has so few
calories. The increased intake of bread and sugar further
creates the increased hunger sensation. This is due to an
increase in the how much insulin your body produces which is
directly related to digesting these types of carbs.
When you make a decision to go
on a low calorie diet such as this one, you should plan to
have a constant struggle with hunger which is
one of the main reasons people fail on diets. So even if you
can achieve the 3 days during the diet, then you are more than
likely to eat higher calories during the 4 day off period.
Studies dating back to the 1970's have shown that the typical
dieter will add up to 8 pounds in weeks after stopping a
diet.

There are numerous diet plans
out there. Some of the plans are actually good ways to lose
weight but often many of them eliminate healthy foods and safe
levels of calories.
In closing, the 3 day tuna
diet just may help you drop the weight you desire to lose but
at the end of the day you are likely to add it all back and
some.
