Every healthy diet should consist of the following meal plan or something very similar:

Breakfast
Snack
Lunch
Snack
Dinner
Snack

By eating throughout the day, you allow your system to run its natural furnace and burn calories during the day.  This is often referred to as speeding up your metabolism.  A fast metabolism burns the calories you intake and helps you avoid weight gain.

Here are 7 diet tips to implement a healthy eating plan:

1) Try to plan your meals and snacks in advance.  Often people will make poor food choices if they don't plan in advance for what they are going to eat during the day.  A little bit of planning the night before or in the morning will help you maintain your diet plan.

2) Take your time while eating.  One mistake you can make is eating your food too fast.  If you take your time while eating, you allow for your system to digest better which provides the feeling of being full yet you actually eat less.

3) Keep track of calories.  No, you don't need to keep exact count but it is important to know the calories of food's you're eating so you can make good choices and stay on track.

4) Eat fruits, vegetables and natural foods as often as possible.  It probably goes without saying but than more fruits, vegetables and natural foods you can eat the better.  The recommended serving for fruits and vegetables is 5 per day.

5) Avoid food high in fat and sugar.  Although sweet snacks and fatty foods tastes good, they need to be a small part of your overall diet.  High fat foods mean more calories and sugars make it difficult for your system to work at its ideal levels. 

6) Can you have desserts?  Well, yes, you can eat anything really as long as you keep it in moderation and it's part of the typical healthy eating plan
